LochID, Accounts & Others

Support by The Hub

Your LochID is the account name you use to sign in to the majority of technology systems at Clayton State, including campus email, the DUCK, DegreeWorks, D2L, and others. Your LochID is also the first part of your official university email address (LochID@clayton.edu for faculty/staff and LochID@student.clayton.edu for students).

All new students, faculty, and staff receive a LochID. However, you must first activate a password in order to use your LochID to log in to systems. To activate your LochID, you must:

  1. Going through the LochID Account Activation system,
  2. Verify some basic personal information, and
  3. Sep up an initial password that you will use to log in to campus systems.
  4. Optionally, you can also set up an alternate email or SMS recovery for your account to reset your LochID using your phone or a personal email.

Upon activating your account, you will be prompted to set up Multifactor Authentication, also known as MFA. MFA ensures that only you can access your account by verifying your identity. You will need a mobile device or telephone number to complete the MFA setup process. Please click on the "Multifactor Authentication" section below to get started with the setup.

MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) is a method of identity verification that requires at least two steps of authentication before granting access, providing protection against identity theft as well as safeguarding access to data and applications. In addition to your username and password, you will be asked to provide a second method of verification using your mobile device.
MFA is a best practice at universities, financial institutions, and online email providers because it presents significant challenges for attackers due to the layered structure of the process. Even if an attacker manages to obtain your password, it is useless without also having possession of your device. Should you lose your device, the person who finds it will not be able to use it unless they also know your account password.

You should set up account recovery to ensure you can retrieve your password when necessary. Below are the steps you will need to take for the setup:

  1. Input your Clayton State University email address and click "Next"
  2. Type in your password and click "Sign in"
  3. Verify your credentials using Multifactor Authentication - MFA
  4. Update/verify your secondary contact information. Use a personal email address for the Authentication Email. Please do not use your CSU email address as your Authentication Email.

Below are the steps you will need to take to reset your password:

  1. Input your Clayton State University email address and the capture code then click "Next"
  2. Choose a verification method (select an option to email, text, or call) and verify accordingly.
  3. Input and confirm your new password.
  4. Click the finish button, and your password will be reset.

If you have not signed up for Self Service Password Reset, please click the "MULTIFACTOR AUTHENTICATION SETUP" section to start.
